Carter Consulting Group is dedicated to helping institutions maximize their annual, major and special giving programs. The Alexandria, Virginia boutique consulting firm brings decades of fundraising and not for profit management experience to its clients.

Specializing in individual giving, the firm works with clients to develop all aspects of major gifts initiatives, including the establishment of planned giving programs.  While the most extensive experience is with cultural institutions, the firm also serves clients in the cancer prevention and public policy arenas.

Additional services include interim development staff services, annual fund plans, capital and endowment campaign assessments and preparation, creation of donor communications materials, and training and coaching development staff.

Donor satisfaction assessments, board and committee coaching for fundraising success, and advice in the selection of specialized fundraising vendors are examples of  additional ways that the firm can increase your nonprofit’s ability to secure and sustain support.

Founder and President Julie Carter previously served as chief development officer with three organizations in the Washington, D.C. area, including Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, The National Assembly of Local Arts Agencies (now Americans for  the Arts), and George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens.  In 2005  Ms. Carter successfully completed the Campaign for Wolf Trap, a $21 million building and endowment campaign.  She subsequently worked on the initial phase and planning of Mount Vernon’s campaign to build George Washington’s Presidential Library.

In each of these efforts Ms.Carter has led significant growth in net contributions during dynamic periods in institutional development.  She excelled at securing support from individuals, private foundations, corporations and government agencies at the local, regional and national levels.

Currently, Ms.Carter serves on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Fairfax County, Virginia.  In addition to her membership in the Association of Philanthropic Counsel, she is an active member and former officer of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Washington, DC Chapter. She is affiliated with numerous professional, cultural and preservation organizations.
