Suzanne Irwin-Wells is the founder of Irwin-Wells Associates(IWA), a Northern California-based firm providing a full range of fundraising and management services to philanthropic organizations in the US and UK. The firm's clients include institutions devoted to the arts, animal welfare, community enhancement, education, the environment, healthcare, human services, religion and social justice.

Ms. Irwin-Wells works extensively with boards of directors, conducts planning studies, plans/directs capital campaigns, conducts development assessments (audits), creates annual development plans and provides coaching and training. She has founded nonprofits and her experience ranges from addressing the challenges of complex organizations in transition and those new to fundraising.

Ms. Irwin-Wells' career began in 1962 when she served as the Teen Chairman of the Heart Fund Drive in her hometown of Quincy, Illinois. During her 36 years as a professional in the nonprofit sector, Ms. Irwin-Wells has developed many skills. She has served not only as Director of Development for start-ups, but also for major institutions with operating budgets of $100,000,000. Under her direction, the firm's clients have raised in excess of $100,000,000. Ms. Irwin-Wells believes one of her greatest talents is instilling confidence in both volunteers and staff.

Ms. Irwin-Wells teaches capital campaign and major gifts fundraising at Golden Gate University and has also been a lecturer in major gifts at USF and UC. As part of the Excellence in Fund Raising series, a joint project of The Fund Raising School and Jossey-Bass Publishing, her workbook on major gifts was published in 2001.
